Encounter notes can be locked in FCM. This feature is not a requirement by the system, it is totally optional to use. Some CMAs use this feature as supervisory sign off, since it is time stamped when it is locked and users are able to see who locked it.
Once an encounter note is locked, only DSP Admins have permission to unlock notes written within their own CMA.
How to Lock an Encounter
Choose an encounter for review and click details.
Once in the Encounter note, there is a button at the bottom of the note to Lock Encounter.
After clicking the button, the page will refresh to show that the encounter note was successfully locked. At the bottom of the encounter note, you will see that the note was locked/ electronically signed by which user at what date and time.
If you navigate out of the encounter note details and back to the main Encounter tab, you will see that the encounter note will have a little lock icon to show it has been locked.
How to Unlock an Encounter
If a User needed to make an edit to the encounter note, but the encounter note had already been locked, a DSP Admin can unlock the encounter.
Once in the encounter note, at the bottom of the screen, there will be an Unlock button.
After clicking it, the page will refresh and you will see that the encounter note was successfully unlocked.
The encounter note can now be edited and relocked, once done.
